Artemis Studios have commissioned this full length musical play based on the Arthurian Legends, a time when Britons, Gauls, Saxons, Dragons, Druids, Myth and Magic Lived and breathed, a time from which little is known in history save the coming of King Arthur, the King to unite all Kings.

Vortigern the Usurper is on the throne, having betrayed the British Kings to Hengist the Saxon.

Only two kings, Uther Pendragon and Aurelius Ambrosius, survive and vow for revenge.

Terrified at this Vortigern builds a castle in the west of his lands so he can defend himself, and yet every day he builds, every night the Castle is laid to ruins. He calls to the wise men to find out why, they direct him towards a stranger raised by Druids with no earthly father, a young, wild Merlyn who tells the following prophecy and the coming of a king to unite all kings, the coming of Arthur.

Written by Bart Lee with new music by Tom Neill this new musical tells the story behind Arthur, where he came from and the people that made the legends.

AVALON - The Musical

Quoth Merlyn

"Tell your workmen to dig down deep in to the ground till they come to a great pool of water, command this pool to be drained and at the bottom shall be found two dragons, one red, one white, great and huge, they sleep now yet at night they fight and tear each other and make the ground shake and tremble casting down your towers.

Woe to the Red Dragon, which figureth the British nation for his banishment cometh quickly, his lurking holes shall be seized by the White Dragon, The Saxon whom thou, oh King, hast called to the Land. The mountains shall be levelled as the valleys,

And the rivers of the Valleys shall run blood. Cities shall be burned and churches laid in ruins till at length the oppressed shall turn,

For a Boar of Cornwall shall arise, a king to unite all the kings and trample the necks of those who oppose him beneath his feet.

He shall take the forests of Gaul, The House of Romulus shall dread him, he shall be immortal in the mouths of the people and his works shall be food to those that tell them.

But as for thee Vortigern, flee thou the sons of Constantine for they shall burn thee in thy tower. Thine own ruin was to traitor their father and bring the Saxon heathens to the land, Aurelius and Uther are upon thee and the brood of the White Dragon shall waste thy country and lick thy blood"
