Student Emma Chapman, 18, is to play the title role of Cinderella in a national tour this Christmas.
Emma will be the youngest company member in the professional tour, run by SG Productions.
The tour will start in late November and run through to early January.
Well done Emma!
Well done to Josh Poole, 14. Josh is a member of the Artemis Theatre Company (for 15-19 year olds - an exception was made for Josh as he is unusually good!).
Film star, Play Wright and panto actor - and that was just autumn!
This has really been Josh's year! He wrote a play over Summer, which was picked for the Thrice as Nice New Writing Festival held at South Hill Park. The play was directed and performed by adults, and well met by audiences.
Dance Company took part in the Midlands regional heats of 'Dance 2008' on Sunday 12th - and qualified! The troupe of 12 girls, will now go to the finals in Blackpool on 18th January- where they will compete for a share of a £4000 prize!
The girls worked hard, as a last minute entry, and judges said they were impressed with the fusion of style incorporated in the piece, which included Lyrical, Ballet, Hip Hop and jazz, all within five minutes!
As some of you may be aware, from September, all Saturday students have been doing work as part of normal lessons which goes towards one of the new ‘Arts Awards’, at either Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
These are real qualifications, and for our children represent a way of validating the work they already do, without adding to busy schedules or over loading exams students.
Artemis director Niki Robinson qualified in 2006 to teach these awards, and Artemis is a registered centre.
Talented student Scarlett Windle has signed her first record deal. She will use her own material, and material written for her, to record her first album this autumn. The music will be released next year, and she will tour the work with other artists.
If the tour is a success, the album will be picked up by a bigger record company for development.
Well done Scarlett!
