Blackout - National Theatre Connections

Co-production with Reading Rep

Show Details

Friday, 19 February, 2016 to Saturday, 20 February, 2016

In a co-production with Reading Rep theatre company & Artemis Medusa students, we present 'Blackout' by Davey Anderson.

The show will open in Reading Studio (Kings Road, Reading) for three performances across 19th & 20th Feb. It will then transfer to The Waterman Theatre in London on 30th April 2016.

Students participating as cast will work with Niki Robinson (Artemis) and Paul Stacey (Reading Rep), along with a digital media specialist, Stephen Harrison who will help the cast design the projection, video and other multi media aspects of the show. In addition, they will be reviewed by a National Theatre director, who will also spend half a day with the cast in London in preparation for their transfer.

The project is totally free for the cast to take part in, and the 20 members aged 15-19 have enjoyed weekly evening workshops as well as a full half term rehearsal period to prepare the show. They hope it will be chosen to represent Artemis and Reading Rep at the National Theatre in June.

Tickets are £5 and are available from the box office. Shows are 7.00 Friday 19th and Saturday 20th Feb, and a matinee 2pm Saturday 20th Feb. 50 tickets available per performance.

'Blackout'

Inspired by the true story of a young offender from Glasgow who had committed a violent crime, a hard-hitting play about getting bullied, fighting back, trying to make a name for yourself, turning vicious, doing something stupid, losing everything, then finding your way again.
