Each year the company members cover a variety of acting techniques, genres and practical study with highly qualified teachers who are also professional performers/practitioners themselves. Guest workshop leaders include West End directors and actors, BBC writers, London Globe directors, casting directors and more. These skills are then applied in L.A.M.D.A acting and musical theatre exams (winter term) and our big summer shows, and various public performance events. Some students also join our associated agency and enjoy professional paid work. Medusa Pro is new for 2017, and is a supplemental class (included in the fees) for the most ambitious students - offering work experience producing, fund raising, aditional LAMDA tuition, event management skills, CV building and University, Dance and Drama school audition preparation for the older teens.
Medusa rehearsals are Saturdays 1.45-6pm term times (36 weeks a year). In Summer term, class starts at 12pm for extended rehearsals. Medusa Pro is Thursday nights, 6pm-8pm and is run by a professional theatre and events company to our syllabus. During show weeks, you will also be needed for evening dress and tech rehearsals.

In addition to performing in their shows, students write & devise, direct and produce. Unlike other schools with huge casts, the senior company is kept to a strict 24 cast maximum to allow everyone a voice within the company. Everyone gets a chance at lead roles - we don't have 'favorites' - casting is based on merit! Most of our spring shows are written for us, which allows us to profile everyone well. Our bigger shows are professionally produced and staffed and run over a week to give performers and insight into the rigors of performing.
We work towards shows, events and qualifications, as well as giving a thorough grounding in the essentials. We can help build CV's ready for University and college applications using links with local and national theatre companies and casting directors, as well as our own agency. MEDUSA PRO is new for September 2017, and offers even more in depth industry training. It bridges the gap between saturday classes and mainstream quaifications, with students able to devise and manage their own events and shows, build CV's, have additional rehearsal for show solos, exam prep and for those off to uni, a chance to build a set of audition pieces and help with personal statements.
Company members work towards L.A.M.D.A acting & musical theatre exams each summer term (with exams taken in December to aviod clashes with school exams). These are nationally recognized qualifications. We have a 100% pass rate at Merit or Distinction. These exams (depending on the level taken) can contribute U.C.A.S points. Students who wish to take solo or duo, in addition to group qualifications, are given one-to one tuition with specialists, as part of their Saturday class. Additional support is offered (free) outside these hours if needed. It is our aim that all our young performers gain Distinctions.
Medusa Theatre Company is taught and directed by established theatre directors, qualified teachers, working actors and guest workshops each term to ensure company members are thoroughly challenged! Our tutors also teach at schools such as R.A.D.A and Royal Central.
Join us for a FREE class trial/audition at any point during the term.
Agency representation is also available.
All of our students are encouraged and prepared for further education.
