FREE Holiday performance workshop for teens

Join us to create a one act play, act, produce, direct, be a technician, costume, make up, sound!. Everyone aged 13-19 is welcome to apply for the company of 20 actors plus crew. The cast will rehearse in February half term 2016, before performing in Reading and Oxford. it is totally FREE to take part, and auditions will be held in January 2016.

Overview

For the third year, Medusa teen theatre company, along with members of Reading Studios and any other local teen who wishes to audition, will take part in the National Theatre Connections programme. They will select and premier a one act play, which in 2016 will be performed at the Reading Studio Theatre. They will then transfer the show to a partner theatre - (The North Wall theatre in Oxford) and along with other teen companies, work for the chance to perform at the National itself! 

In depth

All actors and creatives aged 13-19 will have the chance to take part. 

Rehearsals will be during the half term week of February 2016 - full time 10am- 6pm, plus cast read throughs and preparation in the weeks before on a sunday afternoon. 

The fee to take part in Connections 2016 is £0!!! FREE!!!  For this you get:

Access to 10 brand new plays by leading writers
Two months of of skills workshops and rehearsals including a day long workshop, facilitated by a leading director
A chance to perform your play at your home venue (Reading)
To transfer your production to a leading regional theatre (Oxford)
A visit from a National Theatre Connections Director who will provide a comprehensive Show Report to help you develop your production for transfer
Ongoing support from the Connections Team at the National Theatre throughout the year

One production of each play will be selected to perform at the National Theatre in the Summer of 2016!

We are a not for profit company and are actively seeking grants and sponsors to cover the costs of running this event. if you would like to sponsor the students, please get in touch!
